Armored Terra - Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

Hm, maybe I should've practiced poses before going out in this; doesn't seem like I've done any better angles in all the pics I've seen...

Anyway, this was my big project for Mechacon 2012 down in New Orleans. Came out surprisingly decent, and I was pretty happy at how well it was received; don't think I've ever had so many pictures taken of me.

Most of the armor pieces are paper-mache, done over cardboard, and in some cases (the gauntlets) craft foam. The bodysuit is one of those Morphsuits you can buy in party stores, which I painted over in certain spots (note: stick with fabric paints; I used standard acrylic paint for the crotch and butt, and it hampered a bit of the elasticity), and Gorilla Glue-d pieces of velcro to attach the armor to.

The cape was the only part not made by me, as my mom's the one with the sewing skills. Sure, I could have gone without it like the final game did, but dammit, those capes looked epic!

The helmet was formed using the foam-insert-cushion-thing of a bike helmet as the base, and I put cardboard and paper-mache over that. The visor is made from the plastic of 2-liter coke bottles, sprayed over with window tint.

As for the keyblade (Ends of the Earth), it's Great Stuff expanding foam sprayed over a pvc pipe, paper-mached over for extra support.
